Fish out of Water
11/20/2008
This weekend I decided to step outside of my regular routine. The weekends, I believe are for fun and friends. I normally will hit up the coolest nightspot with my best girls and have a crazy good time. However, last weekend I was given the opportunity to do something very different. I went to a Latin salsa club. I found the hardest part of the experience was making it in the front door. I was extremely nervous because I was going into a place I was unfamiliar with. In addition, I was not at all comfortable with my salsa dance moves. After my friend and I went in we mixed it up with some of her friends; who were all very welcoming. After the evening was over I released my preconceived notions were completely untrue. I thought I would be walking into a very ‘hard’ bar, where people would not be very excepting of an outsider. In the end I was extremely comfortable, and had a blast.

Cosmetics and Advertising...WOW!

Chanel Advertisements
I was surprised to these Chanel cosmetic ads. In particular the one on the left. The girl in the ad appears to be extremely young, which I find appalling considering the explosive sexual nature of the advertisement. In addition, IT’S LIPSTICK! Why do our cosmetics need to be rooted in sexuality? I had pretty similar feelings concerning the ad to the right.

Dear Dona,
I have an extreme passion for fashion and all its elements. I have worked in this field for years and hope to one day be a public relations specialist in this field. I would love to explore this field of work more in-depth, and am hoping to write my Feature Story on this. However, I realize this topic is very broad. I was hoping you might be able to help me better focus this topic. I have an interview lined up with Donna Berry, founder on InkSpot Public Relations. Donna is responsible for putting together the SF Fashion Week.
Thank you.
Sincerely
Nicole Camet
